Lighthouse technicians are delighted to have been nominated in the Original Music Awards.
Since the monthly original grass roots music night Live and Unheard was launched in 2019, Lighthouse technicians have provided full support to the featured artists, enabling all to perform in a professional setting, often for the first time.
“Live and Unheard has become one of our biggest shows in the Sherling Studio,” says Technical Manager Paul Coxon.
“In fact, it is almost too big for the space. It has grown in popularity, particularly over the past year or so, not only with the audience, but also with the technicians. Bands love the space and what they get out of it.
“We look forward to Live and Unheard continuing into the new year, and beyond.
Run in partnership with Hangover Hill, Live and Unheard showcases emerging and established original music artists – many of them from the South West – that fly for the flag for new music without the aid of record company support.
The gigs are staged in the Sherling Studio with the same lighting and sound rigs used by professional touring artists and all bands are paid regardless of how many supporters they bring with them. The monthly gigs provide invaluable experience for bands and have seen some of them go on to play much larger stages supporting established acts. Including singer songwriter Jake Bugg at Lighthouse.
On Friday 17 January, Lighthouse hosts the Original Music Awards, a red carpet event for original grass roots music artists, performers, promoters, venues and devotees.
